Merry Christmas from Lagos!! Casey and I wish we were able to spend the holidays at home with family, but we’re enjoying ourselves as much as possible here. At least we are together. Yesterday, on Christmas Eve, we treated ourselves and bought a present for each other. Can you guess what it is?
You probably guessed correctly: A Refrigerator!!!!!!!!!! Isn’t that completely domestic but immensely exciting! We had a couple errands to do yesterday so, while we were out and about, Casey suggested that we go to Cash’N’Carry and buy ourselves a fridge!
I was a bit surprised since we had decided to hang in there until Arik repairs the broken one that they gave us, but Casey said NO! We’ve been waiting for over four months and nothing has been done, so we deserve a working fridge. We were and are so happy and excited!
We filled it up last night, and it got full quicker than I imagined! We have a lot of big items that we bought at Costco in the states so they’d last awhile, but what two people need a giant jar of chopped garlic and huge bottle of ketchup? It’s great to have these things though. As you can imagine, it was super convenient not having to carry things up and down the stairs to the fridge in our room. Now that little fridge can be used to hold water and anything else we want close by.
Casey found his favorite bottle of red wine, Baron de Valls, at the market so he sipped that slowly and happily while I prepared his Christmas Eve Boboli Pizza. My large bottle of cranberry juice sits atop the deep freezer behind him, and I hope to enjoy some cold juice this evening. It’s funny that we have a HUGE freezer and a relatively small fridge, but we’re happy nonetheless. At least they both work, so that’s all we can ask for!
I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season!! Our Christmas feels like Las Vegas in the summertime, but we’re managing quite well with our lovely car and new appliance. We miss our families very much, but we’ll see everyone again soon! Love you all!
